The “niébé”, also known as black-eyed pea, is a very famous bean variety in Africa. It is ivory-coloured with a kind of black eye at its tip, which inspired its name.
 
The niébé is slightly sweetened and flavourful. It is mixed with occidental vegetables such as leek, celery, and carrot to become a delicious cream.
 
The niébé cream goes very well with aperitif toasts and starches.
 
Did you know? As « Niébé » translates in English as « Black Eyed Pea », this little bean has given its name to a famous hip-hop music band : the Black Eyed Peas!
